About This Item

London: Williams and Norgate, 1867. First edition. Octavo, publisher's blind-stamped green cloth, gilt lettering and decoration on spine. Maria Rossetti authored a related title, Annedotti Italiani, published the same year, in which the 100 anecdotes were printed in Italian. This is an ex-library copy, with an early slender card pocket on the rear pastedown and call numbers in white enamel on spine. The front free endpaper is rubber-stamped, "From the Publishers" and signed by the noted collector and librarian "Ex libris S. Pantazzi". Sybille Pantazzi's research notes on file cards are laid into the front. Front hinge paper cracked, spine ends and corners a bit frayed, slight residue at upper corner of front board, else a good or better copy..
