Buck's classic tale about the lives of author's mother and father, who were missionaries to China. Her mother a dauntless woman who, in a far and strange country, in the face of all danger and grief, kept to the end a flaming spirit and a stout heart. 315 deckled pp.

Synopsis

A companion book to Fighting Angel, The Exile is Pearl Buck's biography of her mother, Caroline Stulting Sydenstricker. Pearl's mother was born in America and lived during the Civil War, and then married and went to China with her new husband to raise their children and watch him win souls for their God.
