Black-and-white photographic frontispiece, showing a Spiral Nebula. The text has one other black-and-white photograph detailing Spectra of Nebulae. Plain card cover with black coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. The author gave lectures on, the then new theory, that the universe was expanding, and this book is a reproduction of those lectures. Pelican Book A 70. Chipping to the lower backstrip edge and the top 0.25" is missing. Browning to the book panels, textblock edges and pages. A few stains to the book panels with foxing to the top textblock edges. Previous owners details to the half title page. First edition of the work in this format and binding, and/or set or series.
