London: Printed for Black, Parry, and Co., 1813. FIRST EDITION, 8vo, pp. [ii], xix, [i], 404. Two leaves are folding charts, one printed in red and black. Contemporary sprinkled calf, spine divided by raised bands between gilt rules, red morocco label, A touch of minor spotting, neatly rebacked preserving original spine. A scarce ‘defence of the East India Company's trading monopoly and a history of the company's development up to 1773’ by Sir Robert Grant (1780-1838), son of the chairman of the Company. Grant went on to become a politician, ended his life as Governor of Bombay and is also remembered as a hymn-writer. Goldsmiths'-Kress 20727.

About McNaughtan's Bookshop
Established in 1957, McNaughtan's Bookshop is the oldest surviving secondhand and antiquarian bookshop in Scotland. Located in the basement of a listed 1820s tenement building at the top of Edinburgh's Leith Walk, we are the only open shop in Edinburgh holding membership of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association.
