A report made to the Minister of War by The Joint Commission of Artillery and Engineering Officers, instituted on June 12, 1847, to study on the fortifications of Bapaume, the principles of the execution of the breaches by the cannon and the mine. With 28 plans and plates. Extremely rare - no record of any examples other than modern copies have been found. The fold-out diagrams are meticulously detailed and in very good condition. Faded red tint to top, fore- and lower page edges. Foxing to the text. Rear end paper is glued to the paste-down at the LH corner and is torn. Browning and foxing to some of the pages. Long split to front end papers at the gutter. "No. 164/2" written in black and red ink on top LH corner of front paste-down. Bright gilt device of the Royal Engineers Library on front cover.
