New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1873. It is impossible to overstate Darwin's importance to our scientific thought. His groundbreaking study of emotion and facial expression serves as the basis for current research into ethology. This is a Near Fine copy of the First American Edition. Redish-brown cloth binding with rules and decorations in black on the front cover; titling in gilt on the spine. Clean text; vi, 374 pages; indexed. Twenty-one illustrations and seven Heliotype plates within. Light bit of rub to tips and margins of the spine. This would be a Fine copy, but there is a horizontal tear across the first three pages, which includes, unfortunately, the Title Page. This is easily repaired, but please note the condition issue. Quercus must offer this as a Binding Copy, in need of repair or restoration.. First American Edition.. Hard Cover. Near Fine/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
