About This Item

New York: Harper & Brothers, 1909. First Edition. With an engraved frontispiece by Albert Levering. 8vo, publisher’s original bright red cloth lettered in white on the upper cover and spine, the upper cover pictorially decorated in white, black, blue and gray. 121 pp. A very good copy, the cloth is clean with minimal wear, internally very clean, the hinges tight and sound, the white titling on the spine panel has mellowed down. FIRST EDITION AND A WELL PRESERVED COPY This is the last of Twain’s books to be published during his lifetime. It is an amusing commentary on human vanity that satirically combines elements of science fiction with more traditional views of the afterlife.
