Trubner and Co, 1873. First Edition. Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. viii+248 pp in dark green boards with gilt lettering. 'Second edition' stated on title page; with a new preface and title page attribution to Butler. Hoppe #8 'By the Late John Pickard Owen, with a Memoir of the Author, by William Bickersteth Owen' (title page, above attribution to Butler). Bumping to all corners, edgewear, and worm holes from both sides. Lacks half-title page and contents pages. Errata slip bound in to first preface page. Bookstore sticker to inside rear cover. Loose signature at pp 17-32. A still viable scholar's copy, with new brown end papers (in additional to originals) to prevent further wear.
