About This Item

The Detective Book Club produced volumes of three crime novels from 1942 to 1999. Originally monthly, near the end they dwindled down to just a few per year. Many famous detective and crime novelists had their early works featured in DBC editions. Often, books were published in DBC editions before, or at the same time as they were published in mass market form. A little about our authors:

Edward Marston: One of five pen names used by prolific writer Keith Miles. Author of over 125 works, Marston was by far his favorite pen name. Under this name he wrote 64 historical mystery novels in six series, plus a series of five noels in the Historical Fiction genre. This book is the ninth in the Nicholas Bracewell historical mystery series.

Nancy Bell: Bell, a Texan herself, sets her novels in the wide open spac es of Texas. She has written two different mystery series, the Biggie Weatherwood series of six novels and the Judge Jackson Crain series with three novels. This is the second Biggie novel.

Alistair Boyle: Alistair Boyle is not an author you could call "prolific". He has written exactly one series, the Gil Yates series, of just nine books. Ok that is nine more books than I've published, if you don't count my Master's thesis, but so many of our DBC authors have works numbering in the dozens to hundreds. This is the first Gil Yates story.
