A war story, an adventure story and a great love story about an English aviator who is grounded by engine trouble in occupied France, takes with him a girl (who he is taken by) and escapes to England. Binding of gray full cloth with red title panel, gilt titles-clean, with finger print smudges on front, gently bumped corners, spine ends rubbed; tight and solid sewn binding. Rough cut. Prev owner bookplate on ffep, with two blacked out one inch areas on ffep. Internals very clean, no markings, no creases, lightly toned.

Synopsis

Fair Stood the Wind for France is a novel written by British author H. E. Bates, it was first published in 1944 and was his first financial success. The title comes from the first line of Agincourt, a poem by Michael Drayton (1563-1631).
