London: Longman, Brown, Green, Longman's & Roberts, 1857. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. Burne-Jones, Edward. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Contemporary green cloth binding quarter bound with rebacked spine. xv, 283 p.p., 4 p.p. ads. First appearence of illustrations by engraver Edward Burne-Jones work on frontis and tailpiece. Rubbed edges and extremities, boards slightly stained, corners of edges have been chipped. Deckled edges, small tear to xiii, xv but text unaffected, loose thread on p.p. 152. Otherwise in good condition.Edward Burne-Jones (1833-1898) was an influential Victorian artist during the Pre-Raphelite movement, and worked together with William Morris.The book includes ballads of Trolls, Fairies, Elf-Folk, Pixies, and other enchantments.
