About This Item

Walter Scott, 'The Camelot Series', London, 1888. Book. Poor. Hardcover. 1st Edition. First edition, first state of Yeats' second book. preceded only by The Dublin University Review offprint pamphlet 'Mosada' (1886). 8vo. 326pp + [vi] advertisements. The binding cocked, and the rear gutter splitting with two tears to the backstrip, and some chipping to the spine ends. Paper spine label tanned and chipped, and the corner tips rubbed. Some quite light spotting to the endpapers and a light crease to the first half-dozen leaves. Errata slip missing. Some spotting to the protruding edges of the fore- and bottom edges. An uncommon book but alas quite a poor copy, although really quite crisp and bright internally. No dust wrapper called for. Yeats contributes a ten-page introduction, nine introductory essays of varying length, a selection of notes, and his poems 'The Stolen Child' and 'The Priest of Coloony'. Wade 212 (binding 1)..
