About This Item

Buffalo, Erie County, NY.: Foster & Stewart. NEAR FINE book, FINE contents. No DJ, likely as issued.. (1939). 1st edition.. Hardcover. NEAR FINE book, no DJ. Pristine contents. Cover lightly rubbed. A study of 141 Erie County "feebleminded" families. 4to, 97pp . Despite what we now term the "political incorrectness" of the title this seems to be an astute book. The four page "Conclusions" contains this sentence: "This means that instead of the temporary help ... provided for average individuals ... every feebleminded person requires supervision AS LONG AS HE LIVES." My emphasis. She goes on to speak of the need for "a permanent work program" and "sheltered workshops". .
