Hardcover bound in original blue publisher's cloth with spine titles in gilt and cover designs in blind. The binding is worn and bumped and has some fraying and tearing at the spine ends. A couple of nicks on the spine are touched up with blue. A sound copy with secure inner hinges. Appears to have two identical facsimile title pages tipped in (consequently lacking the original title; the frontis is NOT in facsimile). The text has some moderate foxing throughout. An early owner's blind stamped name is on the first page of the text. There is a folding newspaper article pasted onto the rear pastedown. Harrisburg [Pennsylvania]: Gedruckt und zu haben bey C. Gleim, 1814. Hardcover. Very Good. 16mo. iii, 125 pages. A small, pocket-sized book. The binding measures 5 inches tall by 3 1/2 inches wide. Hardcover bound in early quarter leather with green and tan marbled paper-covered boards. The binding is rubbed and worn but sound. The leather spine is solid. Rubbing along the edges of the binding, and the corners are bumped and worn to the boards beneath. Hinges secure. Complete with 2 front and 2 rear flyleaves. The text is tone and has occasional foxing or staining but overall is quite acceptable. Text is in German. This work does NOT contain scored music. A rough translation of the title is, "Spiritual Songs: With an Appendix, Consisting of Spiritual and Comforting Songs, by Various Poets." A nice early 19th Century Harrisburg, Pennsylvania imprint.

The binding is rubbed and bumped but sound. Hinges are just a little rubbed but sound and secure. Complete with flyleaves; no owner's inscriptions. Some spotting to the endpapers. The text is toned. A decent copy.

London: Methuen & Co., 1904. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 12mo. 272, 40 pages, indexed. Hardcover bound in green cloth with titles in gilt. Moderate wear to the binding. The front and rear covers have pale spotting, and the spine is toned. A sound copy with secure inner hinges. Top edge gilt. Endpapers foxed. Text is toned but generally clean with a bit of foxing near the photographic plates. Complete with the folding map at the rear. The map has some brief tears at the edges of the folds. Quite scarce.

Contains a frontis and no other illustrations. Text is browned but sound.

A sound copy with secure inner hinges. There is damping in the gutter at the front near the top and the bottom. This is heavy at the very front and fades through the Introduction. There is also a little damping at the top edge of the rear endpapers which does not affect the text. A sound copy. There is a two-page Index at the rear.

Montabaur-Frankfurt, Germany: Printing Office Martin Flock, 1919. First Edition First Printing . Soft cover. Fair. 12mo. 92 pages. Soft cover bound in salmon colored wrappers. The binding is worn and bumped, and the spine ends are chipped. Bottom corner bumped and creased. Scuffing along the fore edge of the front cover. A sound copy. The text is toned. The two leaves for pages 63-66 have large creases at the top right, affecting the text. Signed by an officer on the front cover. Signed "A. F. Kingman" who is listed in the rear of the book as 2nd Lt / 1st Lt. Capt. Early markings (presumably by Kingman), have pencil notations in the list of names, some marginal notes reading "KIA" for those killed in action. Scarce.

The remaining endpapers are heavily foxed. Text is a little toned and is printed with brown type. Illustrated with a photo frontis and three other plates from photos. Quite scarce.

Cincinnati: Published for Subscribers / Whetstone & Buxton, Printers, 1829. Hardcover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Octavo. 610 pages. Hardcover bound in original full leather. The binding is quite worn but holding. Front hinge is heavily rubbed and is starting. The spine is slightly curved inward. Marbled endpapers. Front flyleaf a little loosened. Outside edges of the text block show heavy wear. The text is foxed but the text block is sound. Illustrated with 6 engraved plates, including a folding frontis plate (HALF OF THE FOLDING FRONTIS IS MISSING). This book was reprinted throughout several years, and most copies appear to have some plates missing or no plates at all. We have not seen any copies with more than 6 plates, but some later printings appear to have some plates (Alexander Hamilton and Nathaneal Greene) which do not appear in this edition. No author is given on the title page, but this work is attributed to Amos Blanchard.

They both are listed as VOLUME I but each covers two different periods in English history (period one and period two). Hardcovers quarter bound in dark blue cloth with light blue cloth covered boards. Bindings are spotted, have scuffing, light foxing. The period one book has a gouge to the fore-edge of the rear board. The period two book has a dark stain mark at the top of the front board. All edges of text blocks are gilt. The gilt is dulled, Marbled endpapers. Text has light toning. Some pages are smudged. Photographs throughout.
