A three volume set comprising the first five series of this important botanical work, with colour plates throughout. This work contains thorough descriptions of each flower, as well as their habitats and uses in medicine.Frederick Edward Hulme (1841-1909) was a botanist best known for this work, which was published in nine volumes. He was drawing master at Marlborough College.These three volumes comprise five series of the work.The first volume is undated.Each flower's description is illustrated with a colour plate depicting the subject. Collated, complete. In a full cloth binding. Externally generally smart, with a little general wear and bumping to the head of the spines, a small stain to the tail of series 1 and 2. Ownership inscription to the front blank. Internally, generally firmly bound. Front hinge to volume V is strained but firm. Pages are bright and clean bar the occasional spot. Very Good
