London: Michael Joseph, 1957. FIRST UK EDITION. 8vo, pp. 415, [1 catalogue]. Black cloth, gilt lettering to spine. Gentle pushing to spine ends, mottling to boards, tobacco-tanned edges, small stain to fore-edge (into free margin). Bands of tanning and light spotting to free endpapers, unsigned Book Society bookplate (Rex Whistler-designed) to front pastedown. Else, clean and tidy. In the Donald Green-designed dust jacket: edgewear, chipping to head of spine and corners, various closed tears, reinforced by tape to verso, rear panel lightly shelf-soiled and toned. Good+/ good+.
