A detailed study of Faraday's researches into the preparation and properties of alloy steels in 1819-1824. Describes the facilities at Faraday's disposal and the methods he employed, often quoting from Faraday's own words.Then the author explains in detail his researches on the contents of Faraday's box at the Royal Institution and on further specimens preserved at the Science Museum and a number of historic razors. Later chapters present a general appreciation of Faraday's metallurgicl researches, and an account of the later developments in alloy steels down to the 1930s. A Very Good bright copy.
