About This Item
New York: Farrar, Straus and Giroux. Near Fine in Very Good+ dj. 1969. First Edition. Hardcover. [minor shelfwear, slight abrasion to upper right corner of front cover (also affecting the jacket a bit in that spot); the jacket is lightly surface-worn, with a small tear at the upper rear hinge and a bit of dog-earing at the top of the spine]. The author's first novel, about down-and-out boxers, was the basis for the 1972 John Huston-directed film of the same name (for which Gardner supplied the screenplay), which starred Stacy Keach, a young Jeff Bridges, and Susan Tyrrell (who was widely praised, and Oscar-nominated as Best Supporting Actress, but whose career never really caught fire). .

About ReadInk
Now in our 24th year of on-line bookselling, ReadInk offers an eclectic selection of quality books in a variety of subject areas. We are dedicated to the first-class treatment of every book we sell and its new owner (our customer). All orders and inquiries receive our prompt, personal attention. Our grading of a book's condition is conservative ("Fine" is our highest grade, and used sparingly); all significant flaws are described, but we will be happy to provide additional information and/or a scanned image upon request. Your book will be shipped promptly, well-wrapped and securely packaged; the dust jacket, if any, will be enclosed in a new Brodart cover.
