Chicago: T. S. Denison. Very Good-. c. 1900. Softcover. This is an example of an inexpensive book sold in bookshops and railway stations in the latter part of the 1800's (these typically sold for 35 cents). Contains essays and poems on temperance, courage, scandal, etc. ("The High School Girl," "The Locomotive," "Mining Towns," "The Blue and Gray," etc.) Previous owner name on front wrapper. Nice victorian cover with an illustration of a Victorian woman. Yellow printed wrappers with brown spine and cover lettering. 12 pages of publisher's ads in rear. Tiny short tear to rear wrapper and two pages of ads at same location in rear. The date of publication is not given, but presumably about 1890-1900. ; 16mo 6" - 7" tall; 132 pages .
