SMITH MEMORIAL ALBUM featuring "THE FAVORITE SONGS OF NEW YORK'S HAPPY WARRIOR AL SMITH" Produced as a tribute to the late New York politician shortly after his death in 1944, and released as a 4 record set on Majestic records label. These are four duraflex non-breakable 78 RPM records, eight sides total, featuring 13 songs. The records are all in good playable condition, and each has the former owner's name neatly printed on the outer edge of the label. They come in the original green fold-over booklet, which is in very nice condition. The selections and their performers were chosen by four men who were all intimates of the late Governor: Eddie Dowling, Abel Green, Gene Buck and Eddie Cantor. Performers include Danny O'Neil, Kay Armen, The Five De Marco Sisters, and Ray Bloch and his Orchestra. Included with the album is a rare dust-cover, illustrated with scenes of Al Smith's New York. It is fairly tattered at the edges with some tape-repaired tears, and now enclosed inside in 2 pieces. This is a complete unique set of this unusual political collectible.
