About This Item
Typewritten draft of the Bay Area Women's Liberation "Group-In" Feminist Program. 1969. This draft outlines the conference including notes from the organizers. Measures 8.5 x 14 inches. The conference's topic that year was "Function and Evolution of the Small Group" and this outline provides insight into the organizer's plan for implementation. "Many small groups in the Bay Area Women's Liberation have been meeting together periodically in the last several months, and have found these cross-group meetings to be very positive experiences," reads the introduction. "We have called this "group-in" in an attempt to expand the concept of the group, to encourage further cross-group and cross-area meetings, and to create a different kind of conference." Photocopied handwritten notes of smiley faces and additional comments appear throughout as the original draft was distributed among members for review. One such note at the end reads "How many times have you burned his letters, photos and washed him out of your hair? (Anyone care to help rewrite 'blown in the wind?' Woman > Person..See questionnaire." A personal look behind the scenes of the Women's Liberation Movement during a critical year in its development. Pages are stapled in top left corner and creased where folded. Very good condition.
