Il avait étudié la peinture à l'Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles et chez le peintre Charles Counhaye. Il faisait partie des membres fondateurs de plusieurs collectifs artistiques tels 'Forces Murales', 'Mouvement réaliste' ou encore 'Collectif d'art public'. Artiste engagé, il fut membre du parti communiste belge et entendait placer l'être humain au centre de son art. 'Il fut l'un des principaux représentants de l'attitude picturale réaliste sur le plan national et international'. -------------------------, Lithograph 50 x 40 cm, under glass, autograph signature lower right. Lithograph issued at 200 copies (n°30) Roger Somville was born in Schaerbeek on November 13, 1923. He had studied painting at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels and with the painter Charles Counhaye. He was one of the founding members of several artistic collectives such as 'Forces Murales', 'Mouvement réel' and 'Collectif d'art public'. A committed artist, he was a member of the Belgian Communist Party and intended to place the human being at the center of his art. 'He was one of the main representatives of the realistic pictorial attitude on the national and international level'.

The current bookstore has its origins in the one that existed in the 80s in Redu, a small village in the Ardennes. It is there, in a charming manor house, Dirk Minet had his bookbinding workshop and his bookstore.
In the early 90s, he moved to Brussels and with the collaboration of his brother Bernard created a place even more conducive to the passion for old books that motivated them both. After seven years, Bernard leaves and Dirk alone presides over the destiny of the Minet-frères bookshop.
In April 1996 opening of the first website of the bookstore with the URL address http://www.librairie-minet-frères.
In June 1997, the site was completely renovated and changed address.
Today the books have found their setting in a splendid 19th century mansion.
