Boston/Cambridge: Houghton Mifflin Company and Riverside Press for the Texas Game and Fish Commission , 1960. cloth, hardcover in dust jacket. tabbed along the fore-edge for convenience. ruler marked on rear board, all as issued., minor wear to bottom of spine. dj has shallow edge-wear at corners, spine, rubbing, a crease. clean. no unwanted markings. no bumps. price intact. strong binding.; xxx-304pp., illustrated throughout in color and b/w by roger tory peterson. roadside silhouette endpapers. maps. states first printing. signed on the title page by roger tory peterson. a post-it note laid-in states that owner and ornithologist noble proctor acquired this copy at the texas convention, when it first came out and mentions a notation on page 28 made by fellow ornithologist, allan d. cruickshank when the two of them spotted 21 cranes. there are numerous notes and markings on the six page checklist indicating sightings starting in 1962 and during subsequent visits to texas. the bottom edge of the textblock has noble proctor's name-stamp. the front free endpaper has the red ink number, 24468 stamped on it.; a 3-way, unique association copy.. Signed by Author and Owner . First Edition /First Printing. Hardcover. Very Good Plus/Very Good. Illus. by Roger Tory Peterson. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
