About This Item

H. Dayton, Publisher, New York, 1859. Edition Unstated. Hardcover. Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Size: 12mo. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. Dark brown gilt stamped and decorated cloth over boards, frontispiece portrait of Mrs. Smith, 408 pages. Spine faded, corners and spine ends bumped with some wear, covers scuffed and worn with some cloth loss on back, and upper front gutter, pages moderately toned. "From the beginning, Fifteen Years among the Mormons raised issues of credibility. Some of its allegations about Mormon leaders and religious practices would have been considered by many Americans of that time to be immoral, or criminal, or both. The press seemed eager to find someone whose credentials would prove the case against the Mormons. But Fifteen Years among the Mormons was certainly not the last word on this subject, and far more serious charges would soon appear. Labeled by Mormons as lies or a hopeless mixture of fact and fiction, the book is still quoted occasionally by anti-Mormans. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: 2 lbs 1 oz.
