About This Item
London: Faber & Faber, 1952. First Edition. Hardcover. A very good plus copy in blue cloth over boards (magazine photo of Eliot stuck to the front endpaper) in a very good minus clipped jacket with closed tears and price-clipped (bottom). Peter Pendrey. 4to.The film version of Murder in the Cathedral, designed and produced by Mr. George Hoellering in close co-operation with the author of the play, is itself a new and important development of the art of the cinema. We believe that it deserves to be commemorated by a new kind of book of the film. This volume contains the complete scenario, including, with a few minor cuts and alterations, the original text of the play, together with the new scenes written specially for the film by Mr. Eliot, and not elsewhere published. It is also abundantly illustrated, with photographs of sets, details of costume and architectural decoration, including reproductions in colour and reproductions of drawings and sketches made in preparation for the film. With six plates in colour and 48 pages of monochrome illustrations from photographs and illustrations in line.
