Presumed first ed.; 657 p., clean and unmarked anywhere on strong paper mildly age-toned; front gutter cracked and half t.p is detached and crumpled; ill. by Wallace Morgan; in absence of d.j. the red boards are sunned and gilt lettering is tarnished; spots on spine; corners bumped and there is some rubbing at crown and foot of spine. Because of its content this volume deserves rebinding and probably its value would increase greatly. Contributors include Langston Hughes, Joseph Addison, Howard Pyle, Louisa May Alcott, Frances Hodgson Burnett, Henry van Dyke, Christopher Morley, Hamlin Garland, Elsie Sigmaster, Vincent Starrett, Joseph Addison, Charles Dickens, Walter de la Mare, Daphne du Maurier, Washington Irving, and many others.
