Meras"] and dated in the year of issue ["Jul 22, 1972."] by the author at the bottom of the front free endpaper [beneath a basically unrelated gift inscription---save that it ends with "I hope to catch Phyllis / again before we join you in / Providence so that you'll have / an inscribed copy"] signed "George" and dated"7/22/72" that takes up the upper two-thirds of so of the page]. "At once a literate personal journal of a city dweller's first year in the country, a critical, poetic report on the condition of an island and its people, and a joyful almanac of lore on eels and lobstering, sea birds and beach plums". 143 pages, illustrated with small black-and-white drawings. Very good with light wear and minor foxing top page edges in dust jacket with light wear and a small closed tear. bx167E
