Endpages: Tahitian fisherman casting his net; Cloth cover. Lettering on front cover and spine The fishes of French Polynesia (names in Latin, Tahitian (Mao'hi) & English). The fish are grouped either in taxonomic families or by biological and morphological affinities which exceed the criteria normally used to define a family. The general behaviour, eating habits, biological characters, as well as local methods of spearing or fishing each species, have received much attention. Besides the Tahitian names for each species, the names used in other archipelagoes is also given. The occasional recipe adds interest to the book. :-) the colour photographic illustrated dustwrapper has a 0.5 in. tear at the top left of the front panel, with associated creasing and chipping across the top of the backstrip and the top left of the panel.
