About This Item
DS. 2pg. 8” x 12 ½”. July 30, 1801. Newport. A deed for land in Newport’s Easton’s Point signed by five early landholders, “Richard Mitchell”, “Benjamin Mott”, “Saml. Thurston”, “Benjamin Hadwen” and “Clke Rodman”; it is also autographed by “Job Thomas” and “Jonathan Almy” as witnesses. The five of them were “Proprietors of a Tract of Land situated in Newport aforesaid on the point called Easton’s Point, for and in consideration of the Sum of Forty Six Dollars and thirty one cents, to us in hand paid by James Finch, of Newport, aforesaid, Mariner…to one lot of land situate in Newport aforesaid…bounded Eaterly on Washington Street fifty feet, and extending Westerly…”. The document is in very good condition with extensive professional repairs to the folds. The signatures are dark, and five of them have red wax seals next to the autographs.
