About This Item

Dublin: Record Society, St. Patrick's College, 1916. 1st Edition. Publisher's Cloth. Very Good. 8vo., 268pp.. Solid First Edition of this scarce history derived from an early 17th century manuscript with the original Irish on one side and the translation and notes on the opposite page. Bound in publisher's green cloth with titles in gilt on spine. Blind stamped borders on both boards. One full page and two fold-out maps. Errata slip present. Contemporary notes in pencil on the rear end-paper. Square, tight and clean throughout with some foxing to end-papers but a clean interior. Fairly mild wear to spine ends and tips. Cloth surface with patches of discoloration and some small dents. From the library of noted New Jersey Irish-Ameican author, collector and professor of Irish history and literature, Tom Fox, with his unobtrusive blind-stamp on the title page. Fox was called by Nicholas Basbanes, ",,, a kindred spirit...assembler of an uncommonly distinctive collection of Irish history and literature". A sharp collectable copy at a great price.
