Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Overall a good condition item. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and tanning.

London Glasgow Bombay: Blackie & Son Limited Gift inscription on front fly leaf dated Christmas1918. Frontis and last page torn at hinge but still attached. Boards somewhat soiled.Title page and end page discolored, probably from paste down. Text generally clean, binding sound. Many colored illustrations in text.

HC in original pictorial paper covered boards. 1st edition presumed. Paper over spine perished and lacking; boards toned and lightly soiled. Boards hanging on but tenuously attached. Front endpaper missing. First page of the story has a long tear that was tape mended by the prior owner and the following page has a large piece reattached to the front corner with the same tap. About 5 to 6 leaves with corners chipped or short closed edge tears. Each page features bordered text in the bottom 1/4 of the page and 3/4 top a color illustration by Pope. Really a breaker or a careful reading copy only. Fair at best .

Story of naughty young squirrel who, although not dressed, lives with his family in a normal house with tables, chairs, table-cloths and crockery etc. Minute bump at head and tail of spine, inscription dated 1947 on front endpaper, remains of bookseller's tiny label on rear pastedown, contents clean and bright. A very good plus copy in good only DUSTWRAPPER (dw: price clipped, head and tail of spine and corners worn with tiny chips, spine and folds rubbed, 30 mm (1¼") split at foot of lower hinge, neatly repaired.
