About This Item

Southern Railway Co, 1917. Hardcover. Very Good. Collectible first edition of Southern Railway's history of the July, 1916 floods. Densely illustrated with photos of the floods, many railroad related. Notably, there are several chapters pertaining to the Asheville, North Carolina line, including the Vanderbilt's Biltmore Estate. Includes a large folding map of the Southern Railway showing lines affected by the floods and a laid-in slip from President of Southern Railway Fairfax Harrison with the following inscription: "With Mr. Fairfax Harrison's Compliments." Presumably in his hand. Uncommon. 132 pp. 12" x 901/4". Tight, unmarked copy with light shelf wear to extremities and minor loss to head and tail of backstrip. Corners bumped with slight cloth penetration. A presentable copy of an important documentation of the 1916 Southern Railway floods. Photographs of or additional information about this item are available on request. All inquiries answered promptly.
