From the pioneer writer of books for children, a parish priest in Germany whose merits have been acknowledged by both Protestant and Catholic pedagogues. As with his other works, the inspiration here is derived from Christian antiquity and legends, which he put to use in order to enforce his lessons in religious instruction. 203 pp. with 8pp catalogue of Catholic books. Moderate rubbing and soiling to front board, rear board, spine. Severe rubbing to corner tips and portions of spinecaps with light rubbing to rest of extremities. Moderate bumps to all four corners. Former owner's name in pencil and light rubbing to FFEP. Former owner's name in pencil to rear pastedown, RFEP. Crease to length of FFEP with another 4 inch crease. Light soiling and light foxing to FFEP, RFEP. Light soiling to head, fore-edge and foot of text block with several small spots to head and foot. Several corner tips creased throughout text block; approximately 40 corners curled. Light soiling and/or light foxing to approximately half the pages of the text block. Moderate spine lean.
