Chicago: W.B. Conkey Co. Book. Very Good. Blindstamped Cloth. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Small worm holes, red cloth blindstamped decoration, gilt title on backstrip, gilt edged top. Homewood series, includes poems by Alcott. 147 pages, but also includes Charles Dickens' A christmas Carol for another 143 pages..
Synopsis
Flower fables was the first work published by Louisa May Alcott and appeared on December 4, 1849. The book was a compilation of fanciful stories first written seven years earlier for Ellen Emerson. The book was published in an edition of 1600 and apparently sold well although Alcott received only about $35 from the Boston publisher, George Briggs.
