About This Item

Michael Joseph, London, 1991. First Edition. Hardcover. Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Photographic. acknowledgements, food thoughts from Oz, the last of the shopping list and index. Map illustrated endpapers, showing Australia and what Keith Floyd's thoughts on same. The text is illustrated with numerous colour and black-and-white photographs. Mustard coloured coloured boards with metallic blue coloured titles to the backstrip. Colour photographic dustwrapper, showing Keith Floyd in "typical" Australian gear, with yellow, green and black coloured titles to the front panel and yellow, green and white coloured titles to the backstrip. The first part of the book is a travelogue of a breakneck journey around the continent of Australia, and the people he met. He brilliantly evokes the majestic landscapes, the places, the people and their history. He also hilariously describes the various calamities and inevitable hiccups that occurred during the filming of the series. In the second half of the book, Floyd gives over 130 exotica recipes from blinding little vegetable curries, dishes for special occasions such as curry fit for a Bishop or sea trout with champagne (in the Cook as well as the pot,) to nifty prawn and seafood stir fries. A little bumping to the book corners and to the backstrip edges. The major damage to the book is page 221/222 which has been torn out roughly but is still in situ. Rubbing and some chipping to the top dustwrapper corners and backstrip image and rubbing to the lower edges. There is a 1.25 " tear to the top right-hand corner of the rear dustwrapper panel.
