Measures 9-¼" x 5-¾". 712 pages. First edition, first state with only one publisher and MDCCCXCVII listed on the title page, and with the signature mark 11 on page 161 (BAL 3451). Very good in the publisher's original navy blue cloth. Minor to moderate surface wear to the boards. Some scratching to the gilt pictorial illustration on the front board and spine lettering. Minor soiling to the first few pages of the book. Previous owner's name in pen on the front pastedown. Please view the many other rare titles available for purchase at our store. Synopsis
Following the Equator (American English title) or More Tramps Abroad (English title) is a non-fiction travelogue published by American author Mark Twain in 1897. Twain was practically bankrupt in 1894 due to a failed investment into a "revolutionary" typesetting machine.
