Twenty pages of illustrations on plates (including frontispiece). 262 pages. 8.2 x 5.3 inches. Scarce. A detailed history of the theatre in the Texas cities of Houston and Galveston between the years 1838 and 1900. Gives an interesting account of the stars of the stage, the performances, the enterprising managers and theatre owners, their successes and flops, and the evolution of the scene. Includes a list of attractions that were performed at each of the various theatres and stages in the two cities.
