[Eton]: Printed at The Eton College Press, 1902. Full-Leather. Near Fine. Quarto. Bound by Spottiswoode & Co. in full smooth calf binding with gilt decorated border to both upper and lower boards and gilt-stamped crest with a lion rampant, 5 raised bands with gilt decorated compartments, gilt-stamped green leather title label, gilt dentelles, marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Printed presentation plate bound-in, gifted to Robert Lindsay Wood and signed by the Head-Master of Eton at the time, Edmond Warre. FORE-EDGE PAINTING of a bright and colourful Pre-Raphaelite, pastoral scene. Pp. xiv, 164, engraved frontispiece portrait after Benjamin Wilson, plus 3 engravings by Charles W. Radclyffe on Chine Colle (or perhaps Oxford India paper) and mounted, head and tail pieces, some initial letters. Bit of spotting to leather of upper cover, hint of offsetting to pages opposite the plates, otherwise a near fine, clean, crisp, tight copy with a beautiful fore-edge painting. Handsome on the shelf.
