Privately Printed, 1960. Softcover. Like New. James M. Francis, Jr.'s ca. 1960 Forest Reference Manual for the Northeastern United States. Densely illustrated with drawings, charts, etc. Professional level reference. Known globally as a forestry consultant, Francis was notable for his successful reclamation work for mining companies and was the first to plant species in depleted slag soil that previously were thought to be un-growable in it. Francis, whose wife was kidnapped by Russian operatives early on, never to be seen again, drowned in a pond accident in 2006. Scarce. 177 pp. 5" x 4". Tight, unmarked copy with minimal shelf wear.
