About This Item
First Edition/First Printing; A Near Fine book in a Near Fine dust jacket. SIGNED and inscribed by the author to the title page. A stunning copy of this classic novel of science fiction, sweeping the SciFi awards in 1975-6. Inscribed to long time bookman Larry Woods. Collectible copies of this book are hard to find in near fine or better condition; signed copies in similar condition are very scarce. This copy is in near fine condition with a square, tight binding, bright gold lettering over black boards, and clean white pages throughout; the book does show only a couple of small faint stains to the top exterior text block, a PO signature to the front pastedown, and a slight over opening to pages 234-235, else fine. Housed in a clean, crisp, and vibrant near fine dust jacket that shows only light rubbing to the top edges and a couple of faint creases to the front flap fold, else fine. An amazing copy of this book, greatly enhanced with Haldeman's signature! Not remaindered, not price clipped, and not ex-library; in a protective Mylar cover and will ship carefully wrapped in a sturdy box.
Synopsis
The Forever War is a 1974 science fiction novel by Joe Haldeman. It won the Nebula Award in 1975, and both the Hugo and Locus Awards in 1976. An action-laden and contemplative story of an interstellar war between humanity and the enigmatic Tauran species, it deals with themes like the inhumanity of war and bureaucracy, as well as with the results of time dilation space travel which may cause a soldier to return to his home after centuries have passed.
