Roberts. The first editions. Uniformly bound in the publisher's original full cloth binding with gilt detail. Charles G. D. Roberts was a Canadian poet and author, widely regarded as one of the most successful Canadian writers, and as the "Father of Canadian Poetry". This set comprises of: 'The Forge in the Forest, Being the Narrative of the Acadian Ranger, Jean de Mer, Seigneur de Briart; and how he crossed the Black Abbe; and of his adventures in a Strange Fellowship'. Illustrated with a frontispiece, a map, and numerous monochrome illustrations throughout. 'A Sister to Evangeline, Being the Story of Yvonne de Lamourie, and how she went into exile with the villagers of Grand Pre'. Illustrated with a map frontispiece. 'By the Marshes of Minas', a collection of stories dealing with the romantic period in Canadian history. Illustrated with a frontispiece. With four pages of advertisements to the rear of the book. The half title page is present in each volume. Uniformly bound in the publisher's original cloth. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear to the extremities. The occasional light mark to the boards. Marks to the front board of 'A Sister to Evangeline'. The odd spot to the paste-downs and free endpapers of, 'A Sister to Evangeline'. Internally, binding starting but still firmly bound. Pages lightly age-toned to the edges but otherwise very bright and clean. Small closed tear to the lower title page of, 'Forge in the Forest'. Pages roughly cut. Near Fine
