Van Vogt. Illustrated throughout with color and black and white photographs and reproductions. As a young teen in the 1920s, Forry Ackerman began to read and collect the sci-fi pulp magazines of the day. He went on to staff the first sci-fi fanzines, start what would be one of the world's biggest sci-fi collections, and organize the landmark Los Angeles Scienec Fantasy Society in 1934. In this fascinating, lavishly illustrated volume, Ackerman offers, memories, trivia, unique perpectives on the genre from Shelley's "Frankenstein" and major early authors of science fiction, through bthe bage of the pupls, sci-fi on the silver screen, and sci-fi on television.
