A scarce proof copy in the original paper wraps. The Fortunes of War is the sixth historical novel in Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey-Maturin series. The work is set during the war of 1812 and follows the HMS Leopard on its way to Botany Bay. Whilst the work is fictionalised, it follows the true accounts of the two sea battles very closely. Patrick O'Brian was an English novelist and translator, with the Aubrey-Maturin series being his best known work. A scarce proof copy of this sixth work in this noted series of naval fiction. In the original orange paper wraps. Externally in excellent condition with minor shelf wear only. Slight crease to front of wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with marginal age toning. Slight creasing to fore edge. Very Good Indeed
