First published 1968; this is a 1971 Bantam, 6th Printing, w/o subsequently assigned ISBN. California-born chef Julia Child (1912 - 2004) worked for the OSS during World War II in Ceylon and China after graduation from Smith College. In the East she met her husband (Paul Child, foreign service professional and photographer/illustrator of this book). They move to Paris where she studied at the Cordon Bleu and taught cooking w/Simone Beck & Louisette Bertholle, with whom she wrote the 1st volume of Mastering the Art of French Cooking (1961), and be featured on Boston's WGBH The French Chef television series in 1963. 467 pgs of recipes w/an eye to devoting but 30 minutes of kitchen time!
