About This Item
London: Chapman and Hall. Leather. Good/No Jacket. 1837 date on title page, although perhaps later as publisher's imprint reads, "London: Chapman and Hall. 193 Picadilly." Red half-leather with marbled boards, page edges and endpapers. With gilt compartments and five raised bands on the spine. iv, 252; iv, 260; iv, 300 pp, including index in the final volume. A well-researched account of the French Revolution, written using a narrative style blending first person narration with poetic prose reminiscent of classic epic poetry, that has drawn both criticism and praise. GOOD+ condition. Minor general fading to the covers, with light scuffing. Extremities scuffed with the paper worn through in a few places. Leather also scuffed at the corners. Interior clean and solid.
