New York: Crown, 1964. First appearance of Rabbi David Small, "An Unorthodox Mystery", ho ho. Edgar Award winner for best first book. Later printing, though commonly mistaken for a first edition. The true first is about an inch thick, bound in black with yellow titling, with a jacket price of $3.95 and the date "1964" on the copyright page; this later printing is a red hardcover with black titling about ¾" thick, the date given as MCMLXIV, the jacket flap price is $4.95 and there is a ten-digit ISBN number on the rear jacket panel, dating the book to no earlier than 1970 - these were distributed by Publisher's Central Bureau well into the 1970s without any indication of printing. Light wear to book, bookplate, minor edgewear to jacket, base of spine chipped, light rubbing.. Later Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. Octavo.
