Record of the five years Stefansson (1879-1962) spent exploring vast areas of the Canadian Arctic after adapting himself to the Inuit (Eskimo) way of life. Thick octavo: xxxi, 784 p. with a frontispiece portrait, 68 p. photographic plates, and 8 maps, including 5 folding and 1 housed in the rear pocket (collated complete). Original blue cloth binding, with gilt titles. Partially unopened. The spine is slightly sun faded, with a bit of bumping to the corners and tips; otherwise very good.
