About This Item

A fun book from the Golden Age of Comics and Humor which combines comics, jokes, cartoons and anecdotes with its original dust jacket! Of the half-dozen or so copies for sale online, looks to be the only copy which has its original dust jacket!

The Fun Shop The Mirth of a Nation edited by Maxson Foxhall Judell Hardcover First Edition - First Printing New York: George H. Doran Company, 1927. $2.50 cover price. Illustrated by various cartoon artists from the period. An anthology of humor with combinations of text and cartoons divided up by sections concerning aspects of modern life, such as "Shoes and Hosiery", "Music Department", "Book Department", "Barber Shop", "Smoke Counter", "Telephone Booths", even "Krazy College", etc. Best copy available on the net.

Fine in Near Fine+ Dust Jacket. A beautiful copy of what appears to be a fairly uncommon if not rare book. The book itself is just about perfect with clean pages, clean and solid binding. There's a little bit of age-toning to the text-block which is to be expected, and a tiny sticker on the lower part of the back board of Brentano's, Washington, D.C., probably where the book was originally purchased when it was new. The dust jacket is quite incredible given it was produced in the 1920's. The dust jacket's main shortcoming is a slit partially down the crease of the flap at the front board which has been repaired with archival adhesive, making the dust jacket appear completely intact. Also, slight fraying to the top of the spine, a vertical abrasion to the back, and someone has wrote in pen the date 4-18-27 in brackets on the front dust jacket flap. Probably most copies were read-to-death.

NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers.

ALSO: The picture is of the actual item for sale. (The picture is NOT a stock photo.)
