The first edition of this scarce work.In the original price-clipped dust wrapper.A collection of thrilling tales by Annette Kerner, recounting some of her adventures as a detective.The first story in this collection discusses the crimes of Billy Chang, who was a drug dealer who provided the fatal drugs to both Freda Kempton and Billie Carleton.Annette Kerner was the founder of the Mayfair Detective Agency, who started her career as a detective when she flirted with a fellow passenger whilst crossing the channel. The passenger happened to be an intelligence officer who was on the boat keeping an eye on a suspected spy - this man tasked Annette with stealing the spy's suitcase, which she did successfully and calmly. Kerner is known for donning many disguises as a detective, posing as an opium addict, a charlady, a society hostess, a modest widow, and more. Her offices for the Mayfair Detective Agency were on Baker Street, only a few doors down from 221B.Illustrated with four plates.Collated, complete.Including a foreword by Lady Docker. In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original price-clipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. Very light bumping and discolouration to the head and tail of the spine.
