London : Heinemann, 1899. Cloth. Good. 15" by 11.5". Gainsborough . A wonderful selection of works by the painter Thomas Gainsborough. A reprint copy of 250 copies. This volume explores the English art scene during the 18th Century and Gainsborough's influential role within it, exploring his pictures painted whilst in Bath and London. Thomas Gainsborough was an English portrait and landscape painter and is considered one of the most important British artists of the second half of the eighteenth Century. With thirty six large plates, and ten lithographic facsimiles in colour and a letter facsimile from Gainsborough to the Hanging Committee of the Royal Academy. Binding has failed, all pages and plates are however present. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth. Externally, generally lovely with some fading to the spine. Internally, with gutta percha. Plates are pages are all present and clean and bright. Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
